How to Measure Strips

How Do I Calculate the Number of Design Strips I Need?

Wondering how to calculate the number of design strips required to enhance your floor? Although it may seem like a complicated task, it's a simple calculation once you know the size of your room as well that of your tiles. You can calculate the quantity required in 4 simple steps.

Step 1: Determine the size of your room

Use a measuring tape to measure the width and the length of your room.

Write down the numbers on a piece of paper.

Now, multiply the width by the length to calculate the total area.

Say, the length your room is 5 metres and the width is 4 metres. So, 5 x 4 = 20 metres square

But what if your room is not a proper rectangle? Simply measure them by rectangular sections and add the two separate measurements to get the total area. This method works for even more complicated rooms.

Determine the Size of your Room

Step 2: Calculate the number of packs required

This is easy. Simply visit the page of the product you are buying from our website. For example, let's say you are interested in buying Karndean Art Select Hickory Nutmeg, below the product details, there's an empty box labelled "Required Area (sq m)". Simply type the area of your room in this box, and our site will calculate the number of packs required.

Step 3: Identify the tile size

You will find the tile size in the description section of the product page. Alternatively, look at the "Additional Information" box right next to the product description. Look for a label marked "Plank / Tile Size". That's where you'll find the tile size for your product.

Step 4: Calculate the strips

Multiply the number of boxes you are buying by the number in the right-hand side column from the information below. This will show the number of design strip boxes you'll need.

Do take note that strip boxes are offered in full boxes only. Be sure to round off the number to the next whole number.
